WELCOME: A Celebration of Life Service for William "Bill" LaFavor, 77, of Welcome, Minnesota will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome, Minnesota with Military Honors at the Church by the Welcome American Legion Post #553. Private Family Burial will be in the Garden City Cemetery in Garden City, Minnesota.
Bill was called to his eternal rest on Saturday afternoon, August 31, 2024 at his home in Welcome, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome, Minnesota. Arrangements for the family by the Kramer Family Funeral Home of Sherburn, Trimont and Welcome.
William George LaFavor was born on May 19, 1947 to George and Kay (Carey) LaFavor in San Francisco, California. In 1949 he moved with his family to Minnesota. There he attended school and later graduated from Garden City High School in 1965. William joined the United States Army in December of 1966. He served on active duty until 1977. After that he joined the National Guard until his retirement in 1989. On September 25, 1971 he was united in marriage to Carol Ann Daugherty at Fort Devens, Massachusetts while Bill was serving in the military. They had three children together and traveled with the military until they settled and made Welcome, Minnesota their home in 1977. William was employed at Weigh Tronix for a year and then was employed at Railway Motors from 1978 until his retirement in 2013. He later was employed for Casey's in Welcome. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his family, going on bike rides and playing games. He also enjoyed camping, sitting by the campfire, gardening and reading his favorite books.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Welcome American Legion Post #553.
He is survived by his children, Laura Justice of Fairmont, Minnesota and William J. LaFavor of Welcome, Minnesota; grandchildren, Jenna-Lee Minscer, Sarah Justice, Clarice LaFavor and Wyatt LaFavor; great-grandchildren, Elijah Minscer, Eliana Minscer, Ezra Minscer, Bella Minscer, Becca Minscer, Parker Justice; brothers, Keith (Shirley) LaFavor of Garden City, Minnesota, Roger (Jennifer) LaFavor of Dothan, Alabama; sister, Patricia (Dave) Rambo of Alden, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Marilee Daugherty of Elk River, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Ronald Daugherty of Fairmont, Minnesota; nieces and nephews and other relatives.
William was preceded in death by his parents, George and Kay LaFavor; wife, Carol on June 24, 2022; father and mother-in-law, Donald and Neva Daugherty; infant daughter, Jennifer Jean LaFavor; sister, Margaret (Roy) Fergeson; brothers-in-law, Dave (Valerie) Daugherty, John Daugherty; sister-in-law, Donna (Art) Swanson and other relatives.
