William Worth Lattimore, age 86, of Rutherfordton passed away April 11th at Rutherford Hospital after a brief illness. William was a native of Rutherford County son of the late Worth Stroud Lattimore and Alice Lynch Lattimore Hampton and of the Baptist faith. He was a graduate of RS Central High School Class of 1954 and served his country in the US Army while stationed in Germany in 1960. After returning home from the military, William started Green Hill Plumbing Service where he worked for many years before beginning a 26-year career with Rutherford County as Master Building Inspector where he earned all 4 certifications, before retiring in 2003.
William was an avid reader, and loved farming, woodworking and talking to his friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Winna "Wink" Jean Cantrell Lattimore and sister Alice W. Travis.
Those left to cherish his memory include a brother Dave Lattimore (Tammie) of Idaho City, Id.; sister- in- law Bobbie Cantrell of SC, a number of nieces and nephews and special friends and caretakers Ronda and Joe Camp and their family.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Green River Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday April 19th at Crowe's Funeral Chapel with Mr. Clint Calhoun officiating. Burial will be private in the Green River Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM -11:00 AM Saturday April 19th at Crowe's Mortuary.
The family would like to express appreciation to Rutherford Hospital ER and 2nd floor Doctors and Nurses as well as Dr. Rivers Woodward and his staff (Blue Ridge Health) for the excellent medical care that was provided.
