Janet Leona "Taylor" Ervin

Janet Taylor Ervin, age 72 passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum, SC.

A native of Rutherford County, Janet worked for a number of years at Cone Mills and taught preschool at The Learning Tree. Her favorite pastime was quilting and she truly enjoyed being an active member of The Rutherford Quilting Guild.

She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Hong and husband Doug, Stephanie Lewis and husband Justin; grandchildren, Mia Hong, Ethan Hong, Evan Hong, Cole Hong, Gabby Behrns, Isabella Behrns and Penelope Lewis; two brothers, Donnie Taylor and Zane Dedmond, step-father, Roger Dedmond and his wife, Diane Dedmond, as well as a number of other relatives and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Ervin, father, Clifton Taylor, mother, Lucille Hayes Dedmond, and one sister, Sandra Taylor.

A celebration of her life will be held 2 PM, Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Crowe's Funeral Chapel, 118 College Ave. Rutherfordton NC 28139 with Rev. Lance Scarlett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Spindale City Cemetery.
