William "Bill" Eugene Layton passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 20, 2025. He was born on February 15, 1944, in Lamar, Colorado, to Jack and Velma Layton. He graduated from Walsh High in 1962. He studied at Pueblo Community College for a year and a half then joined the Army and served in Vietnam for two years. Upon returning he studied at Colorado State University, now CSUP, but graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. He was a longtime resident of Baca County but had spent the last 35 years in Johnson, Kansas. On September 25, 1976, he married Zipper and became the father of two children, Michelle and Michael. Bill and Zipper celebrated 48 years of marriage together and passed away just days before their 49th wedding anniversary.

Bill was a farmer, real estate agent and before his retirement a crop adjuster. His family knew his as a dedicated provider whose love was expressed through his actions. After the birth of each of his granddaughters he went out, by himself, and picked out a special teddy bear known as "Huggy Bear." Each granddaughter still has their "Huggy Bear" to this day. Bill was a man of integrity and conviction. His focused and determined nature was the foundation of his work ethic and devotion to his family. He taught us the value of hard work and the importance of education and we are forever grateful for the love he gave us.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Velma Layton, wife Zipper Layton and son Michael Rodarmel.

Bill leaves behind to treasure his memory his beloved daughter Michelle, son-in-law Obed Irvin, sister Betty Willard, and cousin Richard (Cheri) Robbins.

Grandchildren: Alicia (Jimmy) Kiefer, Brianna Gonzales, Kayla (CJ) Harpel, Kathleen Irvin and Harmony Provinzano.

Great Grandchildren: Andrew and Angelo Kiefer, Evan Anderson, Jr., Olivia and Brendon Gonzales.

Until we meet again, I love you, Daddy.
