John H. Layton

John H. Layton age 77 of Connellsville, passed away on February 6th 2026. Born December 23, 1948 in Vanderbilt to the late James H. Layton and Julia D. Loya Layton. John was a graduate of Connellsville High School. He retired from US Steel. He was a member of Saint John the Evangelist RC Church in Connellsville. He was a US Marine Corps veteran and recipient of the Cold War Commemorative Medal and a member of the American Legion Bikers. He was a member of the Dunbar Eagles, Connellsville American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and the Connellsville VFW; where he was Post Commander for a numerous years. He loved his Harley Davidson, his Camero and hunting with his brothers and grandson and nephews. He is survived by his wife Caroline S Hall Layton, his daughters Rhonda Martray and husband Bob of Leisenring, Julie Kochuga and husband Joe of Ligonier, Samantha Pletcher and husband Dave of Dickerson Run; his grandchildren Christopher, Miranda and Mia Martray, Jonathan and Jakob Kochuga and Chloe and Olivia Pletcher; his great granddaughters Aubrey and Emery; sister in law Peggy Layton and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death parents; his brothers Edward Layton, James E Layton and sister Rosalind Quinn. Family and friends will be received from 2-8 P.M. Thursday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville where services will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Peter Guardiano officiating. Interment will be in the Cochran Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the members of the Connellsville
