Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith-Miner Funeral Home on Feb. 2, 2026.
William (Bill) Virgil Lowe, born November 26, 1944, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 30, 2026.
Bill was a kind and gentle man. A man you could talk to for hours, and talk ABOUT, for hours more. From his everlasting love for the Lord, to his impeccable love for his family, He was the type of man who people looked up to.
As a young man, Bill served our country in the United States Marine Corps. After serving, Bill worked at Fletcher Paper Company in Alpena, Michigan. He also impacted many cities as a minister in Michigan. These cities included Manistee, Escanaba, and Temple. Along with this, he ran a Christian School in Front Royal, Virginia. If you knew Bill, you would never doubt his love for Jesus. It was evident in the way he lived.
Bill is survived by his wife Janis; Son, Mark ( Sheri); Daughters, Tonja Lowe, and Marcy (Jeff) Kramer; 11 Grandchildren, and 9 Great- grandchildren. Brothers, John (Betty) and Kenny Crisp; Sister-in-Law, Karen Timm; Brother-in-Law, Dennis Fulkerson (Carol). Several nieces and nephews.
Bill and his bride, Janis, met on the campus of Friends Bible College and were blessed with 59 wonderful years of marriage. You could tell how much love Bill had for Janis just by watching as his face lit up and his eyes sparkled when she came around any corner. They supported each other no matter the circumstance. Their marriage was a partnership built on love, with God at the center.
On top of his loving heart, Bill never failed to make someone smile. One might say that he was a jokester, always cracking a joke, and they wouldn't be wrong. Big or small, his cheeky smile after telling a joke made it irresistible for one not to giggle. He strived to make people happy...and that he did.
William's spirit will always remain in our hearts, for he was one-of-a-kind. His unforgettable soul will continue to be described for generations to come. His love for God and people, will continue to flourish through us. His time on earth may have been temporary, but his Praise to the Lord will continue forever.
Our sweet Bill, rest easy, in peace and in love. We love you dearly. Well done, good and faithful servant.
In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Alzheimer's Association of Michigan and/or the family in his honor.
A celebration of life service will be on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Midland Church of the Nazarene, 5700 Jefferson Ave,
Midland, Michigan 48640 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. William Dyke officiating.
