William (Bill) Luoma, 58, of Jefferson, Ohio passed away from stage-4 stomach cancer on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Bill was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, on October 21, 1966, to John Luoma and Rachel Lena Petro. From May 1988 to June 1995, he honorably served in the U.S. Army. He attended Lakeland Community College where he received an Associate Degree in Human Services. On February 14, 2004, Bill married Patricia Ross and together they have shared over 21 years of love and memories. Bill worked as a Lieutenant at Lake Erie Correctional Institute and later in his career, as a Substance Abuse Counselor at Lake Area Recovery Center. Most recently, he worked for Jefferson Recycling. When not at work, Bill enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting, fishing and yardwork. He also enjoyed adventures with his wife and grandchildren, visiting the Ashtabula Eagles Club, gambling, bingo and shopping. His last purchase was buying a boat, and he was very proud of it. He is survived by his wife: Patricia Luoma; children, Candace (Noah) Luoma-Kuckleburg, Kayla (Jake) Luoma, Monica (Buzz) Goodman and Angelica Ross; his grandchildren that he loved dearly, Aria Kuckleburg, Jace Snyder, Sophia Sidley, Avayah Thayer, Lexi Taylor, Taisha Gonzalez and Trinity Gonzalez; mother, Rachael (Charles) Simms; stepmother, Wilma Luoma; siblings: Leonard (Yvonne) Luoma, Pattie Johnson (Billie Williams), Chuckie (Nikki) Simms, Vince (Heather) Simms and Michael (Julie) Luoma. . Bill had a huge heart and loved his wife with all his heart. He also loved his dogs Ni, Lola and Scar but he had a special love for his beloved dog, Diesel, who was his baby. Bill was preceded in death by his father, John Luoma, Sr.; maternal grandparents, William and Rachael Nordquest; paternal grandparents, John Elmer and Elizabeth Luoma; brother, John Luoma, Jr. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00pm on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Lake Shore Park, 1700 East 1st Street, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. An inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to his family. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to the staff of ARMC Cancer Center, Hospice of the Western Reserve, ARMC Radiology (Lindsey and Jill), all of the doctors at ARMC, Hillcrest Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Main Campus and the members of the Ashtabula Eagles FOE 1463. A special "Thank You" to his mother-in-law, Margie Green (his Uber), his daughters Candace, Kayla, Monica and Angelica, and his sister-law Carolyn Luoma. They were his caregivers and support team.
