William Lynch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Casper Funeral & Cremation Services on Jan. 12, 2026.
In loving memory of William Richard "Butch" Lynch, 6/14/49 - 12/31/25. Formerly of Roxbury, Butch lived in South Boston for many years. He passed peacefully on December 31, 2025 with family by his side.
He leaves his loving wife of 54 years, Denise (Kenney) Lynch and his beloved sons, Shawn and his daughter-in-law Becky, and Daniel. Butch was the much loved brother of John "Guy" Lynch, Jacqueline "Sissy " Lynch, Margaret "Margie" Goodine, and the late James Lynch and Joseph Lynch. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Butch loved traveling, spending time with family, friends and good food. He was very talented and enjoyed working on home remodeling projects, solving complex mathematical equations, and was always ready to help family, friends and neighbors. Butch was known for his sense of humor, wit and fun, his eclectic taste in music and he loved to sing, especially his Motown favorites. As his nephew Patrick observed, Butch was a source of common sense, logic and good values, or just the right amount of silliness, depending on what the situation needed.
Our family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers on Butch's behalf. He was the cornerstone of our family and will be missed forever. Butch joins his lifelong friends, Joe Kenneally, Warren MacDonald and Fred Croake. It gives us comfort to know that they are together again.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass in his memory on Thursday, January 15th at 10:00am at St. Monica's Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Butch's memory can be made to South Boston Special Kids and Young Adults, PO Box 27073136, South Boston, MA., 02127.

Denise, Shawn & Danny,

I was so sorry to hear this sad news about Bill. I worked at Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers with Bill for many years. He was a terrific guy and he always made everyone laugh. Also, as the IT department's "personal shopper" at Filene's Basement, he helped many of us obtain some spectacular bargains. His genial nature and willingness to help anyone solve a problem was certainly missed by everyone at CAR after his retirement. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Denise, Shawn & Danny,
We are so very sorry for all of you. Butch has been part of our family since my earliest memories. There are many things that I look back on and smile when I remember his antics! Motown music; his very sincere "yes, dear" replies, his unusual way of making scrambled eggs!! Helping him push a car down the square, (don´t ask any questions..just run!) We surround you with love and prayers, even from so far away love you
