ARCANUM -- William "Bill" J. Mahaffy, age 93, of Arcanum, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, in Beavercreek, OH, at his daughters residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Betty (Gottschlich) Mahaffy; 2nd wife, Willa Dean (McGuire) Mahaffy; parents, Ildon & Elizabeth (Curtin) Mahaffy; siblings, Rolland "Beanie" Mahaffy (Ruth), Effie Myers (Forrest), Sharon Johnson (Paul "Ike"), and Judy Mahaffy; and a nephew Jeremiah "JD" Johnson.
Bill went into the United States Marine Corp on January 17, 1951, and was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina until he was honorably discharged on May 28, 1952.
He was a lifetime member of the Greenville Moose Lodge. He loved to watch old western shows. He also liked farming, fishing, eating ice cream and donuts, mushroom hunting and listening to Jamboree music and band.
He is survived by his special friend, Jane Brown; daughter, Katherine Scarberry (Donnie); 3 stepdaughters, Lori Overholtz (Tobey), Debbie Kennedy (Martin) and Diane Anderson; grandchildren, Audrey Bolin, Isaac Mahaffy, Rachel Ellis (Justin), Clinton Overholtz (Harley), Dalton Overholtz (Katie), Sarah Hoover (Aric) and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Bill is on Wednesday, January 28, 2026; at Kreitzer Funeral Home 204 N. Main St. Arcanum, OH 45304 from 5p.m.–7p.m. Funeral service will be on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11a.m. at Kreitzer Funeral Home.

My condolences to all of your family. I remember Bill when I used to go to Great uncle Ildon´s farm with my grandmother Pearl i´m sure he´s in heaven with all his friends and family
