William F. (Bill) Manes was born on August 16, 1940, in Thayer, Missouri, to Ezra E. Manes, Sr. and Lola M. Trimble Manes. He died March 16, 2025, in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 84 years and 7 months.
He was united in marriage to Pauline K. Perkins on December 3, 1994. He was previously married to Judy A. Holman, and two children were born in this union.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline, of the home in West Plains, Missouri; two children, Rhonda May O'Geay and William Richard Manes; 3 step-children, Wendy Ann Lennon, Cory Perkins, Loren Perkins; 6 grandchildren; 6-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ezra E. Manes, Jr. and wife Janice, and George W. Manes and wife Darlene; three sisters, Betty J. Snyder, Mary Ann Adams, and Sharon Kay Decker and husband Chuck. Bill leaves behind a loving, extended family of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Anna Lee Spurlock, and four brothers, Charles D. Manes, C. Norman Trimble, Robert D. Manes, and Thomas L. Manes.
Bill loved his Lord Jesus Christ with passion and loved reading his bible and talking to others about the Christian way. He was a member of the Thayer Freewill Baptist Church. He was outgoing and never met a stranger, spreading the word of God wherever he traveled. He was an avid outdoorsman who traveled widely with friends and family members in pursuit of hunting and fishing adventures. One trip he often talked about was to far northern Alaska, where he dipped a foot in the Artic Ocean. He loved to golf, and during his decades as a truck driver, he golfed his way across the United States. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Airforce.
Bill's love for family and his religious passion were beacons of joy for all to see. Even during the last few years of battling severe health issues, his faith and love of family remained steadfast. Having published numerous novels, he continued to write exciting stories to the very end.
All in Bill's extended family know he is golfing, hunting, and rejoicing with the many loved ones that preceded him into the hereafter. We love him dearly and will miss him very much.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
A memorial service w/ Military Funeral Honors will be held 1pm Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, MO.
