William (Larry) Lawrence Mankins, II, 64, of Huntington was born July 11, 1961, died on August 16, 2025, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He is survived by his wife Robin Duncan Mankins, his daughters Molly Elizabeth Mankins and Sally Marie McCue, his son-in-law Reegan McCue and grandson Brooks Aidan McCue; parents, Willam and Carolyn Shaw Mankins; sister, Amy Payton (Greg) and brother Philip E Mankins (Marguerite), nieces Elizabeth Payton and Mimi Mankins and great-nephews Nicholas Nutini and Beckham Payton plus numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A niece, Sarah-Brooke Mankins Nutini preceded him in death. Larry attended Barboursville schools, graduating from Barboursville High School in 1980. He was on the soccer team and participated in Key Club. He was also an Eagle Scout and was active in the life of First Presbyterian Church where he participated in multiple programs and served as a deacon. He attended Montreat: Anderson Junior College and completed his education at WVU with a degree in Agriculture Economics. After graduation he worked in management with the Harris-Teeter grocery chain. After returning to Huntington, he worked at JH Fletcher & Co in the accounting department. After retirement he became an Uber driver and also began employment in the transportation department at The Woodlands Retirement Community where he made many new friends. It was known to all he came in contact with that he truly cared about them and wanted to know more about them. This was a life-long trait-HE NEVER MET A STRANGER. He will be missed by all who ever came in contact with him. His love also extended to animals, and his home was never without one. The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers at The Woodlands Health Care, St Mary's Hospital, and The Hospice of Huntington who helped Larry during his short battle with metastatic prostate cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 23, at 1 pm. Visitation will be from 5 pm - 7 pm on Friday, August 22, also at the First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made in Larry's memory to the Cabell-Wayne Animal Shelter (HCWACS, 1901 James River Road, Huntington, WV 25701) or First Presbyterian Church (FPC, 1015-5th Avenue, Huntington, WV 25701).
