William Mann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home on Dec. 31, 2023.
Boylston-William B. Mann III, 46, passed peacefully surrounded by family at UMass Medical Center on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 following a decline in health.
He is survived by his mother, Karen (McLaughlin) Mann; siblings, Jeffrey Mann, and Kimberly Mann; his adoring nephew Bradley Mann; aunts & uncles, Diane Flanagan & Tom, Annmarie Thompson & Vaughn, Marlene Gedenberg & Paul, Deane Mann & Elaine, and Robert Mann; numerous cousins, extended family and dear friends. He is pre-deceased by his father William B. Mann, Jr.
Raised and educated in Boylston, Billy graduated from the Tahanto Regional High School, Class of 1996. He worked for many years as a customer service specialist and attendant for Ben's Gulf Station in Berlin and as a scale house manager for Berlin Auto Parts. Well known for his sense of humor and quick wit, Billy brought laughter to all occasions. He was a kind and loyal friend who would give another in need the shirt off his back. That shirt, of course, would be one of his many trademark tanktops, reflecting his faithful support for either the New England Patriots or Boston Red Sox. Billy enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, small town living and knowing everyone everywhere, classic rock music, karaoke, the Three Stooges, backyard barbecues, and any opportunity to gather with family and friends. Above all, Billy was a devoted family man, a loving son, trusted brother, crazy uncle, beloved nephew, and friend. A special thank you to the ICU team at UMass Medical Center and friends for the outpouring of love, support and kindness shared with Billy and the Mann family during his extended hospital stay. Funeral services with burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston, will be held privately under the direction of the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of William B. Mann III to: Boylston Fire & EMS, P.O. Box 634, 599 Main St., Boylston, MA 01505. I met Billy when we were little because he was Tommy´s cousin. We used to play in the back yard together, he was always laughing. When I moved to Berlin, I always went to Bens Gulf just so I could see him. I usually had my kids with me who ironically, were the same ages as we were in that backyard. I would roll down the back windows so the kids and I could all talk to Billy Mann (kids were so little, they thought his name was just one big word). One day, he went inside the station and came out with two little Hess trucks and gave them to the boys. They were so happy and always talked about the trucks that Billy Mann gave them. We all missed seeing him there after he left. Those ten minutes, once a week, were nice times. I saw him several other times in life after that, but I always will remember the smiles he would give us and the smiles we would give him back. Rest and be at peace Billy Mann xoxoxo
