William "Bill" Joseph Marquess, 53, of Smithton, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025, at The Living Center in Marshall. He was born on July 26, 1971, in Quincy, IL, a son of Henry Elwood and Wilma Ann (Yoast) Marquess. Bill grew up in Sedalia hanging out with his friends, riding bikes, going tubing, and going to the skating rink. He played football for Smith-Cotton. In 1990, he moved near Warsaw with his family, where he attended Lincoln High School and worked for his dad at Hank's Tire Service. Bill then worked for Ionia Discount, ABC Advertising, Tyson Foods for several years, and then spent some time in Texas working for Nucor. After returning home, he worked for Swift Carriers based in Marshall, MO, and later joined FedEx in Sedalia. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycles, going to auctions and garage sales, and sharing tales with his friends. Bill is survived by his sons, Tyler Marquess and Shaila of Cole Camp and Dylan Joseph Marquess and Bethany of Warsaw; brothers, Buddy Marquess (Marybeth) of Warsaw, and Johnny Marquess (Becky) of Otterville; granddaughters, Emma Marquess and Temperance (Tempy) Eileen Mae Marquess; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Wilma Marquess. In memory of Bill, a barbeque held from noon to 4:00 p.m. on July 26, 2025, at Centennial Park in Sedalia.
