McAdoo, William Arthur "Bill"

Hale, Michigan

October 16,1925 – August 1, 2025

Bill was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather with a big heart that he shared not only with his family, but also his friends, neighbors, and community. Bill lived a good, long life until the Lord called him to Heaven at the age of 99. He attended St. Anthony's Catholic School in Detroit through the 12th grade receiving his diploma. Bill met his loving wife, Dolly in Detroit, and they were married on September 17, 1947, and started their family shortly thereafter. Bill then served his country in the US Navy in World War II and the Korean War as a Fire Controlman; 3rd class from 1943 to 1952. When he returned home, Bill worked as a lineman for the Detroit Edison Company for 35 years until he retired. Bill and his wife Dolly moved to Hale.

Bill was an avid fisherman since he was a child, and fishing became his greatest passion, teaching and sharing his knowledge of the sport with his family. He even made homemade baits and shared his fishing lures with other fisherman on the lake. Bill belonged to the Wayne County Fox Hunting Club with his brother Jack and was also a deer hunter for many years. Bill had a brown belt in TaeKwonDo Karate. Bill and Dolly loved bowling in a league in Hale and Bill enjoyed playing cards at the senior center. He was a proud member of the VFW and Knights of Columbus. Bill attended St. Pius Catholic Church and shared his faith and love of God and set a good example for his family. He was an altar server from age 9-89, also a Eucharistic Minister and Scripture reader to help at Mass. His last words to his granddaughter and great grandson were "Keep Jesus in your hearts". Bill had a fun personality, quick with a joke or funny song and always giving to others. He enjoyed having coffee at the Victorian with the guys and loved his ice cream and would eat ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if he could get away with it! He loved nature and fed the birds daily along with his little chipmunk buddies that he fed by hand and petted. Bill loved the music from his era and played the harmonica for his family.

He has survived by his daughter, Susan McAdoo, and two sons Gary and Edmund, grandchildren; Ryan Kiwak, Sandra (James) Kiwak-Newman, Timothy (Tamra) Kiwak, grandchildren; Sky Kiwak, Hunter and Sierra Newman. In addition to his wife of 52 years and all the family members of his generation.

A memorial mass will be held at Saint Pius Catholic Church in Hale on Saturday, August 30, 2025, with visitation from 10:00 -11 with mass at 11 and a luncheon to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Compassus hospice in West branch in honor of Bill.
