William A. McCammon, Jr.
William A. McCammon, Jr., age 88, passed away on January 2, 2026, in
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Bill was born on January 13, 1937, in
Sullivan, Indiana, to the late Myrtle and William McCammon.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Kearsarge (CVA-33). He was separated from active duty in 1957 and honorably discharged in 1962.
On June 28, 1958, Bill married the love of his life, Beverly Bradley, in
South Bend, Indiana. Their marriage of 67 years was filled with devotion, shared interests, and family.
Bill began his career with Louis Seago Plumbing and Heating, where he served his apprenticeship. In 1968, he joined Hoffman Plumbing & Heating. During this time, he also taught plumbing classes at Ivy Tech and at the Local 172 Union Hall. He served on numerous committees throughout his career. In 1984 he purchased Hoffman Plumbing & Heating and later became President of the Local PHCC 172 South Bend Chapter. Bill's company, Hoffman Plbg & Htg. was instrumental in helping design the new church and did all the mechanical work. He later sold the business and relocated to North Port, Florida.
Throughout his life, Bill was deeply involved in his community and faith. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11483 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Port Charlotte, Florida, where he worked his way from Deputy Grand Knight to Grand Knight. Bill was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 284 in
South Bend, Indiana.
Bill and Beverly shared many activities together, including a lifelong love of bowling and camping. They served as Junior Bowling Coaches for 23 years at Beacon Bowl. Bill was an avid bowler and was inducted into the South Bend Bowlers Hall of Fame. He also generously volunteered his time coaching girls' softball at Matthy's Little League.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James, Charles, and Richard McCammon; and his son, William McCammon III.
Surviving Bill is his beloved wife, Beverly; his brother, Lawrence (Mary) McCammon; his four daughters, Kimberly (Steve) Keen, Sue (Wayne) Cencelewski, Vicki Koehler, Tami Rafalski; also his daughter-in-law, Chris McCammon. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss him deeply.
Bill will be remembered for his dedication to family, faith, service, and community, and for the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2026, in Holy Family Church. Entombment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive
