William McCormack Obituary

McCormack, William "Bill" Sr.
TROY - William "Bill" McCormack Sr., 91, of Troy, N.Y., passed away on January 24, 2026.
A master woodworker and devoted artist, Bill's passion for his craft touched countless lives throughout the Capital Region. His exceptional woodwork graces many buildings across the region, and his dedication to sharing his knowledge led him to teach classes that inspired fellow artisans. Featured in numerous news articles celebrating his talent, Bill was a proud member of the Northeast Woodworking Association, where his craftsmanship earned respect and admiration.
Bill served his country with honor as a combat veteran in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, embodying courage and commitment that stayed with him throughout his life.
For 40 years, Bill dedicated himself to Central Markets (Price Chopper), retiring as Meat Department Manager. His work ethic and reliability made him a valued colleague and friend to many.
A natural storyteller, Bill could captivate any audience with tales about anything and everything. His love of history ran deep, and he remained remarkably active well into his 90s. Alongside his fiancée Annie, Bill embraced adventure, traveling extensively and visiting Ireland multiple times-journeys that brought him great joy.
Bill is survived by his son William McCormack Jr. (Lori); daughter, Kelly Gordon (Kevin); son, Michael McCormack. He was predeceased by his daughter, Robin Henkel (Joe); his fiancée, Annie; and his siblings, Dick McCormack (Jane), Margaret Mackey, and Cathy Miller.
Bill had an extended loving family that brought much joy, that included grandchildren, Joseph, Alicia, Jared, Daniel, Brennan, Dawn, Erin, Maggie and Mason; and great-grandchildren, Leigha, Anya, Kylie, Tanner, Ryan, Reagan, Liam, Conor and Ethan.
Bill's legacy lives on in the beautiful pieces he created, the students he mentored, the stories he shared, and the lives he touched with his warmth, talent, and zest for life.
A private military funeral service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lansingburgh Boys and Girls Club, 501 4th Ave., Troy, N.Y. 12182.
