William McDonald Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Joseph McDonald, of Calgary AB, who passed away on Thursday, March 20th, 2025, at the age of 66.
William Joseph McDonald was born in Scarborough, Ontario on August 17th in 1958. He lived in Ontario during his childhood, and moved to Calgary in 1989.
William worked in the movie theatre industry for over 30 years in Calgary, where he met his wife, Sang Vo. After having their first child, he worked at the Calgary airport for Air Canada for almost 20 years before he retired.
He was known for always having a sense of humour and cracking jokes. He loved trains, cars, and airplanes. His favorite hobbies included going to the park and watching airplanes fly by, or driving to the nearest train tracks and watching the trains go by. William loved reading Stephen King books, and he loved collecting model cars and trains and creating miniature sets with them. William also loved the outdoors and was always happy to go for a walk, go on a drive to look at the city, or go for a bike ride. He treasured spending time with his family and loved taking his family out on trips. We have no doubt that he is now resting peacefully, doing the things he loved most.
William will be joining his sister, Mary Ellen, and brother, Joe who passed on before him.
William is survived by his wife, Sang Vo, and his children, Catherine McDonald Vo, Liam McDonald, Aiden McDonald, and Aileen McDonald. William is also survived by his sisters Anna Rae, Audrey, Rosanne and Bernadette in Ontario, his brother Frank McDonald in Calgary and many friends.
A visitation to share memories and reflection of William's life will be held at Pierson's Funeral Services, 4121 - 17th Ave SE, Calgary, Alberta on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Prayers and tributes will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Pierson's Funeral Services.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for William at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1525 - 45 Street SE, Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery.
