Mr William Murray Meares Jr.

Meares, Wm Murray Jr., 91, of Tampa passed away May 15, 2007. A 5th generation Florida native, he was born in Tampa on April 11, 1916. He attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland. An American Merchant Marine in ocean going service during WWII, he was a master marine electrician and also a photographer. Murray was inventive and an active problem solver whose skills came in handy during the Vietnam Conflict where he served as a civilian contractor. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Ruth Robles Meares, survivors include his children, Bill, Lorran, Marylese, and John; grandchildren, Sabrina, Bill, Lisa, Wesley, Darryl, Aaron, Christopher, Dale, and Laura; great grandchildren, Eric, Chase, Kelton, and Hanna. A funeral will take place at 2pm on Saturday, May 19 at the Blount and Curry Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa followed by interment at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
