William Nick Medrano, 83,
William “Bill” Medrano, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 11, 2022 at the age of 83. He was born in East Los Angeles in January 22, 1939 and was the youngest of two siblings.
Bill lived a life full of adventures which included attending the Mexico City Olympics; playing semi-pro baseball; working alongside the Dodgers organization of the 1970’s with the “Play Ball with the Dodgers” program; camping on the beach in Baja, CA; and betting on the horses at Santa Anita racetrack. He attended Humboldt State University and put himself through night school to eventually earn his Bachelor’s degree from Cal State LA. He worked many years for the County of LA before moving his family to El Paso where he transitioned into Human Resources working for companies such as Levi Strauss and Atari. He would eventually retire as a Human Resources Consultant. Bill always kept busy, even after retirement where he could be found as. P. E. Substitute teacher, enjoying his grandsons’ baseball games, helping organize ice cream socials for the neighborhood association, or betting on the horses at Sunland Park Racetrack.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents Nicolas and Clotilde Medrano and his sister Lucy. He is survived by his beloved children Anthony Medrano (Isabel Medrano ); Sabrina Ontiveros (Armando Ontiveros, Jr. ); and Gabriel Medrano; his cherished grandchildren Matthew Medrano, Sergio Contreras, Miguel Contreras, Armando Ontiveros III, and Tristan Ontiveros. He is also survived by his former wife Corina Medrano and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:00pm On Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Committal Service will be at 11:00am on Thursday December 01, 2022 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
