William Merdick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Best Funeral Services Peoria on Mar. 26, 2026.
William "Bill" Frank Merdick of Peoria, Arizona passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026. Born January 9, 1931 in Phoenix, Arizona to Sybil and Elmer Merdick. William lived life with open arms and a generous heart.

William is survived by his beloved sons Gary (Dawn), Gregg, David (Claudia) Merdick; his grandchildren Sara Merdick, Grace (Gene) Hood, Tamara Merdick, and Amanda Merdick. His memory is held dear by great grandchildren including Braden Merdick, Ethan Byrd, Madison LaBrecque, Emma LaBrecque, Gavin Byrd, and Theodore Oatman. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Linda Luella Merdick and their stillborn son Jeffrey P. Merdick.

Bill was a man of unwavering faith, devoted above all to Christ and the life he was called to live in His name. A true servant at heart, Bill embodied the values of love, kindness, and generosity, always putting others before himself. His life was a testament to his deep commitment to his church, its ministries, and the many charitable causes he faithfully supported.

A proud Navy veteran and a man of strong core values, Bill believed in family above all else. He was a loving presence who was steadfast, caring, and deeply devoted to his family and friends. His joy was found in serving others, offering a helping hand, and sharing the light of his faith with everyone he encountered.

He loved restoring his 3 antique tractors and showcasing them at tractor shows, and loved the adventure of RV trips spent making memories with his family. He was a man of the outdoors and a man of the mind, balancing his love for watching sports with a quiet dedication to crossword puzzles. Most of all he was a master of the spoken word; an extraordinary storyteller who had the perfect joke ready to brighten someone's day. His laughter and stories are a testament to a life lived in abundance.

Bill's legacy is one of compassion, service, and enduring faith. He will be remembered for not only the life he lived, but for the love he gave so freely and the example he set as a true witness for Christ.

A private family gathering will be held to celebrate Bill joining fellowship with the Lord. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Trinity Bible Church and/or Cadence International as a tribute to Bill's legacy of faith.
