Jamie Atherton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Best Funeral Services Peoria on Mar. 26, 2026.
Jamie Ann Fernandez Atherton, 61, of Sun City Arizona, passed away on February 19. 2026 in her home.

Jamie was born April 27, 1964 to Joe and Frances Fernandez in Sun Valley California. Jamie was a vibrant and lively person, who was always helping those around her even at a young age. As the oldest of her siblings, Jamie graduated high school and began work as a paralegal. Jamie had many jobs in her life that she enjoyed, from her paralegal work to setting up as a vendor at concerts and getting to see many bands and artists perform live. She took great pride in her work as a pharmaceutical lab technician, loving that she was helping people from behind the scenes. Later in life Jamie began her own cleaning business where her organizational skills and attention to detail really got to shine through. With that work, she met some great people, which led her to becoming a caregiver also.

Jamie was mother to three wonderful children, Joey Lee, Noah James, and Olivia Frances Atherton and joyfully spent the last 20 years with her partner in crime and love of her life Lonnie Mott.

Jamie loved to do many things in life but the things she loved most include reading a good book, and painting, and those around her loved to admire those paintings. Jamie also really enjoyed getting out of the house and getting to go play bingo, and could convince anyone to go with her to the casino to gamble, but her greatest talent was getting full grown men to do anything she told them to with a simple tug of the ear. As most grandmothers do, Jamie enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren Isabella Rose, Tatiana Marie, and Aiden Rey Atherton. However her greatest joy was spending time in the sunshine with her love, Lonnie.

Jamie is survived by her mother and father, brother Steven Joe Fernandez, sister Jennifer Willmore, brother-in-law Mike Willmore, her children and grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jamie has joined her grandparents Corina & Emilio Fernandez, Lee & Rose Vigil, greatnephew Landyn Nash Willmore, and friend Ed Schraut in death.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the United Lukodystrophy Foundation or to Cowboys against Cancer. In accordance to Jamie's wishes no services will be held, "but.... does your face hurt?"
