Michael Lawrence Johnson was born on June 12, 1961, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Virginia and Ernest Johnson. He proudly served as an Arizona Highway Patrolman/Department of Public Safety Police Officer for over 30 years, a role he carried with dedication and pride. He went on to serve with the ASU Police Department for another 12 years. Above all, however, he was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished "Pops," roles that meant the most to him. He was known for his quiet and reserved nature, especially among those he didn't know well, but to those who truly knew him, he loved deeply and wholeheartedly. He was a wonderful listener, someone who gave his full attention with calmness and intention, making others feel truly heard, valued, and cared for. He had a gentle spirit and a kind heart, and his presence brought comfort to those around him. He was known for giving the best hugs-warm, steady, and full of love.

Above all, he was a devoted family man. His wife, children, and grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Pops," were his entire world. Family was everything to him, and he showed that every day through his quiet strength, loyalty, and love. He also found great joy in the home he thoughtfully designed for himself and his beloved wife, Kristi, a dream realized through his care and vision. He loved spending time there with her, especially working out in the home gym he built with pride. Simple, quiet moments meant the most to him, sitting on the porch, making coffee for Kristi, and enjoying the peace they created together. He enjoyed long walks with Kristi taking in the fresh air and scenery, where he could truly appreciate the beauty of nature; he called it "a slice of Heaven."

He is survived by his loving mother, Virginia; "his person" and the love of his life, wife Kristi Johnson; his son, Mitchell; his daughter, Mikayla, and her husband, Shane, along with their children, Jaxon and Kinsley; his son, Jake, and his wife, Sage, and their daughter, Rosemary; and his sister, Brenda Halliday, and her husband, Bobby, along with his niece Ami and nephew Bobby.

Flowers are welcome. For those who wish, charitable donations may also be made in his memory to Hospice of the Valley, whose compassionate care brought peace and dignity to his final moments.
