It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of William R. Meyer on October 31, 2025, in Cape Coral, Florida. Born in Stony Brook, NY, he grew up in Centereach, NY before moving to Cape Coral at age 14.
He graduated from Ida Baker High School and earned an associate degree from Edison State College. Known for his love of baseball, he played as a child and was an avid New York Yankees fan-rarely seen without his Yankees cap. He enjoyed the beach, cherished time on the water, and had a special fondness for New York City and Fire Island. His passion for sports cars was another defining part of his life.
He is survived by his loving parents, Yvonne Heinser and Bill Meyer; sisters Stacey Zehrer and Kerry Colonna; brothers-in-law John Zehrer and Joseph Colonna; nephews and niece Dillon, Kamryn, Joseph, and Lucas; and many cousins. He will also be missed by his childhood friends Matthew Cutignola and Erik Berger, and his beloved dog Cocoa, who mourns his absence. He was preceded in death by his cherished dogs Brandy, Sandy, and Brandy (#2).
A visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Fuller Metz Funeral Home Chapel in Cape Coral. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family's GoFundMe are appreciated to assist with funeral and travel expenses.
