William "Bill" N. Miller of Fishers, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, in Indianapolis, IN. Bill was born on April 23, 1933, in Indianapolis to the late Dora (Stephens) and Frank M. Miller.

Bill wed Donna J. Toombs on August 14, 1957; she preceded him in death on April 6, 1998. On March 18, 2000, Bill wed Betty J. Dietz, who also preceded him in death on February 11, 2023.

Bill graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, class of 1951. He then proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954. After his service, Bill returned to Indianapolis and enrolled at Butler University, where he played basketball for the Bulldogs and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1959.

Bill loved basketball and was a highly respected coach known for his dedication to his players and his ability to inspire them on and off the court, many of whom kept in touch with him his entire life. His successful coaching career included leading the Covington (IN) High School boys' team to the semi-state championship game in 1960, his first year of coaching. He later coached at Lawrence Central High School from 1961 to 1964. Following his coaching career, Bill began a career at Merck Sharp and Dohme in 1967, retiring in 1998.

Bill loved basketball and possessed an unstoppable “half-hook” shot. He also enjoyed baseball and golf, proudly achieving a hole-in-one in 1994. In his free time, Bill enjoyed spending time outdoors, reading, and watching Pacers and Colts games. For years, he loved drawing and painting, and his family is blessed to have many wonderful pieces of his artwork. Bill was known for his gentle spirit, his sharp wit, and his unwavering support and love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Along with his wives and parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers Robert, Glenn, Frank, Don, Herbert, and Max Miller, and his sister Helen Bales.

Survivors include his two sons, Jeff (Mary) Miller and Jay (Julie) Miller; stepchildren Eric and Christy von Grimmenstein; grandchildren: Nick (Emily) Miller, Dan (Dekota) Miller, Shelby (Riley) Schultz, and Abbie Miller; and many great-grandchildren.
