Bill passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025. He had been struggling with dementia and other health complications for several years. Bill was born July 2, 1954 to Thomas and Audrey Mitzelfeld in Detroit Michigan. Growing up in Birmingham Michigan, he was an outstanding athlete at Groves High School, graduating in 1972. Bill attended Purdue University where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He earned a degree in Civil Engineering in 1976. Shortly after, he married his high school sweetheart, Susie Erk, on June 5th in Anderson Indiana.

In 1978, Bill got an opportunity to accept a transfer to his company's office in Casper Wyoming. Being an avid skier and having dreamed of moving to the west, he jumped at the chance. After 3 years in Casper, Bill and Susie decided to move to Boulder Colorado for more job opportunities and to continue their love of outdoor adventures in the mountains of Colorado.

Bill worked for the City of Boulder where he was proud to be on the team that designed the city's hydropower capacity. Next, he realized his ambition of owning a civil engineering company when he purchased Scott, Cox & Associates which he operated for many years. He wrapped up his career with a stint at the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.

Once he retired he headed for the hills of Steamboat Colorado to pursue all his favorite hobbies at his Two Hawks Ranch. He moved there full-time and could be found hunting, driving his snowcat, cutting his own ski runs, and tearing up the fresh powder in his Carhartt coveralls.

Sadly his lingering health concerns caught up with him and dementia stole his last few years.Bill is survived by his ex-wife Susie Chrisman, his two children Peter and Heidi (Nate) Wessel, his two brothers, Charlie (Donna) and Jim (Lisa) and his three grandchildren, Landon, Rosalind and Max.

Bill's family will be celebrating his life at a private family gathering.
