I was 6 years old when cousin Bill was born. My mother fixed a wicker basket full of freshly baked bread, rolls, coffee cakes, butter and jelly and set off across the field with her cargo to see the new baby. Disappointed, I was left under the watchful care of my sister.
Considered large for it's day, the Moder Farm (actually, The VanDer Crussen Farm) supported four families, Grand Parents Kate and Joe Moder, Pearl and Livinus Moder, Marie and Leander Moder and Delores and George Frank with their families.
"The Farm" could be a paradise for kids. A river, springs, woods and fields, a thousand places to play. And as many places to work. The Farm belonged in a time and place that no longer exists. That too is sad.
We love you, Bill
