William H. "Bill" Mogan, 88
1936 - 2025
Nahant - William H. Mogan, 88, a longtime resident of Nahant, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 24, 1936, he was the son of the late William and Gertrude (Costello) Mogan, and beloved husband of Lana (Tuomivirta) Mogan.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy for eight years as an electronic technician radar qualified submariner aboard USS Jallao (SS368) and USS Corporal (SS346), later continuing his commitment in the Reserves. He devoted over 25 years to Raytheon as an electronics engineer. After retiring from Raytheon, Bill worked for the Post Office for 22 years. He was known for his dedication to innovation and his steady leadership in even the most complex projects. An avid sailor and long-standing member of the Lynn Yacht Club, Bill found joy on the water, sharing his love for sailing with family and friends.
Bill will be dearly missed and is survived by his wife with whom he shared 48 years with, Lana (Tuomivirta) Mogan of Nahant; loving children, William H. Mogan and his husband John Reece-Hoyes of Medford, Lisa A. Mogan-O'Keefe and her partner Michelle Lawlor of Nahant, Linda A. Barba and her husband Peter of Nahant, and Robert C. Mogan of Malden, as well as his step-children, Albert Olson of Rockport, and Scott Olson of Nahant. Nothing brought Bill more joy than being Papa to his beloved grandchildren, Olivia, Frank, Audrey, and Liliana Barba, and Steven and Jessica Olson.
Service Information: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean Street, Lynn. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 11 AM at Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean Street, Lynn. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nahant.
