William Naylon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anthony Funeral & Cremation Chapels - Webster Chapel on Jan. 29, 2026.
Webster, NY: January 20, 2026, at the age of 86. Predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia Jean (White) Naylon. The third born child of William T. and Anna (Maier) Naylon. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved sister, Virginia (Naylon) Daniels; his brother, Tommy (Beverly) Naylon.

He is survived by his loving children: Bill (Sandy) Naylon , Kathleen (Charles) Schultz, Susan (Mike) Stacy , and Laura (Mike) Murray ; his grandchildren, Erin Naylon, Danny Naylon, Henry Schultz, Oliver Schultz, Joseph (Samantha) Stacy, Daria Stacy, Sean Murray, and Dylan Murray. He was especially delighted to welcome his first great-grandchild, Bennett Stacy. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

From the moment Bill entered the world in 1939-born prematurely and weighing just two pounds-his strength and determination were unmistakable. Rooted in his Irish and German heritage, his fierce will to survive was extraordinary, so much so that his early story was later documented in the New England Journal of Medicine at the University of Vermont.

Bill later became a proud member of the Aquinas Institute of Rochester Class of 1957, where he boxed in the mission bouts, ran track and cross country. His fastest time was 4:34 in the mile. He went on to attend St. John Fisher College, graduating in 1962 with a degree in history. After earning his master's degree in education from Brockport University, he began his teaching career in the Byron-Bergen School District before finding his professional home at Klem Road North Elementary School, where he taught for 30+ years before retiring at the age of 55. He was active in all activities his children were involved with, and played and coached softball until age 60.

He spent his remaining years volunteering, gardening, reading nonfiction hardcover books, traveling, and golfing with lifelong friends. He particularly cherished time with his wife and best friend, Patricia, with whom he shared trips to Yosemite and the Redwood forests, Hawaii, and yearly stays at Disney World. He remained fully present and deeply engaged in the lives of his four children and eight grandchildren-a role he treasured.

Our father made sure we grew up in a loving home and were given a childhood filled with warmth and meaning. He had a natural ability to bring magic into the most ordinary moments of life. His imagination, silver-lining philosophies, and enduring sense of wonder were gifts to all of us. We are forever touched and grateful-not only to have known and loved him, but to have been so completely loved by him.

His extraordinary sense of humor, stories, and traditions will continue to live on, carried forward in the warmth of his memory and in the lives he shaped. While we grieve his absence, we take comfort in believing that his love endures beyond this life and remains with us always. He will forever be etched in our hearts and will be missed every day of our lives.

Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, April 18, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 1460 Ridge Road, Webster, NY. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pines of Peace Comfort Home, a non-profit hospice at 2378 Ridge Road, Ontario, NY 14519.

I'm so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. When your family lived in Irondequoit (Washington Ave) my family lived across the street and there was only Bill Jr and Susan, I did some babysitting for your parents occasionally. Later my brothers and I used to p!at Sunday morning softball with your Dad. He was a great guy and a lot of fun.
