William Fredrick Norris, passed away on April 2, 2025, in
Chariton, Iowa. Bill's family will greet guests from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the funeral home. Bill will be laid to rest beside his loving wife, Jeannie, in Chariton Cemetery following services. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery. Family asks that guests wear their favorite St. Louis Cardinals attire.
Bill was born on October 1, 1937, to William and Opal (Jones) Norris. As a young man, he chose to serve his country in the United States Army, embodying a sense of duty and commitment that stayed with him throughout his life. After his military service, he took on the challenging work of digging swimming pools by hand in Des Moines. In his younger years, Bill also worked for Borden's Delivery as a milkman, serving his community with a friendly smile. In 1969, Bill joined Hy-Vee, where he became a beloved member of the team, working for over 30 years before retiring in 2002. His work ethic, kindness, and dedication to his job made a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of working with him.
Outside of work, Bill had a love for the outdoors, enjoying many days fishing and hunting. He was also a die-hard fan of sports, always watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals as well as the Raiders, teams he supported with unwavering loyalty throughout his life.
Bill will always be remembered as an honest man who loved his family dearly. Left to cherish his memory are his sons: Tommy Gene (Cheryl), Clayton Eric (Tina), and William Joseph (Wendy); grandchildren: Jamie (Donnie) Patterson, Wendi (Aaron) Norris, Rusty (Stephanie) Norris, Brittany (Wesley) Hala, Tiffany (Eric) Norris, Brett Norris, and Joni Burton; great grandchildren: Tyler, Brody, Izabelle, Scout, Jeb, Gabe, Macie, Eric, Hazel, Mackenzie and Brianna; great-great grandchild, Aloy; and his sister, Sherry Peters.
Bill was preceded by his parents; his loving wife of 66 years, Jeannie; son, Clinton Allen; a grandson, Thomas David; siblings: Helen Wolfe, Velma Eilders, Mary Kuhfus, Carol Zimmermane, Robert Norris, Larry Norris, Martha Green, and Kaye Easton, and daughter in-law Brenda Norris.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Care Initiatives in Chariton or Care Initiatives Hospice in Albia.
