William (Bill) went to his heavenly home on October 10, 2024, and is with his Savior and Heavenly Father. There was a happy reunion with family and friends who were waiting for him.
Bill is survived by his daughters Deanna Cluck - Austin, TX, Carol Roddy - Dayton, TN, and Sharon Sweat - Seminole, FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Todd and Evan Ownbey - Columbus, OH and Kirsten Barbee - Colonie, NY. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years Anna L. Norton.
The son of Holton Jay and Audrey Ruth Norton, Bill was born in Elyria, OH and lived his early years on a farm. He moved to St. Petersburg with his parents and brother Tom in 1943. He attended St. Petersburg High School and Taylor University in Indiana. Enlisting in the US Army, he served as a paratrooper (planes and gliders) during the WWII occupation of Japan.
Employed by Florida Power for 35 years, he worked as a Plant Operator at Bayboro. In previous years he was locally employed by the Dept. of Veterans Affairs at the Don Cesar Hotel, a Sinclair gas station and Browns Grocery.
Fresh and Saltwater fishing was the hobby he enjoyed the most. Oregon was his favorite travel destination. He was a member of Starkey Road Baptist Church for most of his life, serving as a deacon and a volunteer.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, 10:00 am, at Memorial Park Cemetery.
