William J. "Bill" Nowak Jr.

William "Bill" J. Nowak Jr., age 77 of Crystal Lake IL passed away May 29, 2024 with his Loving wife of 44 years, Patricia Nowak, by his side. Devoted father to Joseph (Rosa) Hommrich, Lisa Marie (Dan Barett) Hommrich-Barrett, and Chad (Bridget Bylak) Nowak. Loving Grandpa to Aiden, Nathan, Isla Rose, Zachary (Amanda), Tyler (Shyanne), Taylor and Miranda. Cherished great-grandpa to Malachi, Freya, Preston, Ryker and Lillyanna. Dear brother to Robert (Dixie) Nowak, and the late Maryann Hoyt. Beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, William Sr., and Josephine Nowak.
Bill was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran. He was no stranger to hard work, he worked for Dominick's for 30 years as a manager in the Meat Department, eventually leading him to meet the love of his life, Pat. For a couple years they enjoyed a log cabin in Moston WI, where many boating and fishing trips were had. Not long before that, they operated a large Christmas Tree Farm in Wisconsin. Later in life, he and Pat had a beautiful homestead with their beloved animals and garden. Bill was an excellent vegetable gardener and expert in canning their homemade items. Bill was genuine in his character and never complained about what life tossed his way, he truly built a life he loved. Bill was a wonderful family man and a hands on grandpa. He was an amazing man and will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Colonial Funeral Home, McHenry IL from 3:00-7:00pm. Mass will be held Thursday, June 6, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg IL at 10:00am. Burial to follow at the St. Johns Cemetery.
