William Pack Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCoy Funeral Home - Blacksburg on Dec. 17, 2025.
William Carl Pack, age 83, of Blacksburg, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 15, 2025, at his home. He was born in Christiansburg, VA, on September 13, 1942, to the late Carl Adam and Wavie Hill Pack. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Naomi McIvor, and brother, Arnold Pack.

As a teenager, Bill was a proud member of the Civil Air Patrol and spent portions of his summers at the Langley Airforce base. His involvement with the Civil Air Patrol inspired a lifelong love of airplanes. He attended many air shows at Oceanna Naval Air Station with his family.

He was the president and valedictorian of his high school graduating class at Blacksburg High School. He was a skilled machinist by trade and very respected in his field. He also designed and built his family's home, where he raised us and taught us the value of love and the importance of family.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved his cabin on John's Creek which, to own, was one of his dreams come true. There, great memories have been and will continue to be made. He enjoyed many years of fishing on the river with family and friends, and we fondly remember riding in the airboat that he also designed and built. Each family member has so many specific and wonderful memories with him because he took time to enjoy life with each of us as well as passing on the love of many of his interests.

He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Faye Pack; daughters and sons-in-law, Amby P. and Stanley "Tony" Linkous, Patricia P. and Todd Linkous, Machelle P. and James McClain; grandchildren, Travis Linkous, Ryan Linkous, Adam Linkous (Karley), Tanner Linkous, and Austin McClain; great-grandson, Walker Linkous; brother and sister-in-law, Franklin and Roberta Pack; sister-in-law, Arlene Pack; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Marcus Harrison officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home.
