Mary Ellen,
We can´t thank you enough for finding us. Your dad was a gift to us from Annette. We adored him! We have so many wonderful memories of time spent at our cabin and watching the 4th of July fireworks at the condo. That was sweet. No crowds or bugs. We watched many a slideshow of his travels. Nobody researched trips like he did.
If you are a family member, you need to know that the trips that excited him the most were the family trips. I can still see him grinning with enthusiasm talking about them ( especially the ski trips). He was so proud of each and every one of you. I wish you could see how his face radiated with love when he spoke about you.
I became his ballet buddy after Annette died. I also studied Anthropology so you can only imagine the nerdy books we exchanged. He was a true Renaissance man.
I can´t imagine the hole that he has left in the hearts of his family. He truly made the world a better place and brought joy to so many. I know he made our lives richer and we are grateful for the gift of him.
With sympathy and also gratitude;
We will celebrate his life from Austin, Texas,
Barb and John Carter

Wow! I knew Uncle Bill was smart, a world traveler, and sprinkled his knowledge around touching most that he encountered.... Reading his obituary I learned he was even more! I have some fond and some funny memories and glad I had those moments with him. Laurie

We were so sorry to hear of Uncle Bill´s passing. It´s so hard to lose a parent! What a wonderful tribute to his very ambitious life! God´s blessings and peace to all of you.
I will always remember the year Dave and I came to Northfield for Thanksgiving. It was a gift to be included into your family with all the fun banter and jokes from Bill.
