William “Bill” E. Pearce, 83, of Vermilion, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025, at University Hospitals of Cleveland after a brief illness.
He was born July 11, 1942, in Cleveland, was raised in Avon and graduated from Avon High School; he had been a Vermilion resident for the past 52 years, moving there from Lorain.
Bill proudly served in the U.S. National Guard during the Berlin Crisis. He worked for Ford Automotive as a Quality Process Controller for 33 years, retiring in 2006.
A man of faith and community, Bill was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served as Eucharistic minister, usher, lector, church council representative and shared his musical talents by playing bass in the church band and singing in the choir. He was also a member of Amvets Post 22 and a proud UAW Local 425 retiree.
Bill found joy in life’s simple pleasures-spending time outdoors camping, woodworking, leather tooling, hunting, trout fishing, traveling and watching the Guardians. He was devoted to his family, who were his greatest joy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Russann "Rusty" Pearce; daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Walker and Kim Pearce; cherished grandchildren, Morgan (Nate) Annable and Matthew Walker; and sisters, Linda (Joe) Ondrey, and Susan (Mike) Moore; and his best friend, Bill Hyde.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Tina Pearce (1989), and his parents, William M. and Mildred (nee Hunter) Pearce and his sister, Sharon Masters.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3747 Liberty Ave, Vermilion, OH 44089, with a gathering to follow in the fellowship hall.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 3747 Liberty Avenue, Vermilion, OH 44089, or to the National Parks Foundation, by mail at National Park Foundation, Attn: Gift Processing P.O. Box 17394, Baltimore, MD 21298-9450.
