William PEED Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 2, 2026.
Age 77 of Weymouth, Massachusetts, passed away on December 15, 2025 after a brief illness. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Mary Ellen (Kennedy) Peed and William Otis Peed, and served in the Navy as a journalist. He was an announcer and a disc jockey for the Navy at Subic Bay in the Philippines. While there, he studied photography and continued taking pictures throughout his life. He was an avid reader and a fan of old horror movies.

His real passion was the theatre and performing. He once said he felt fully alive when he was acting on stage. He performed in plays at John Carroll High School in Birmingham and earned a BA in Theatre and English from Birmingham-Southern College where he studied with Arnold Powell. He received an MFA in Acting and Directing from the University of Georgia.

He moved to Boston with his wife Charlotte and appeared in many plays, working in theatres across New England, and acted in numerous films and videos and did voice overs. He enjoyed working with the many talented actors and directors at Moonbox Theatre, Merrimack Rep, the Greater Boston Stage Company, the New Rep, Boston Playwrights' Theatre, Wellesley Rep and Wheelock Family Theatre, as well as many others. He was especially proud of his role in "A Confederacy of Dunces" at the Huntington Theatre and his work for FarrellMedia. He always looked forward to the next project and was shooting a scene in a TV series a few weeks before his illness.

He leaves his wife of 52 years Charlotte (Lagman) Peed, his sister-in-law Margaret Nolen and niece Andrea Thurlow and family, and many dear friends.

Ed didn't want a formal service. A gathering of his family and friends will take place at a later date. In his honor, please support your local theatre and arts organizations.
