William Wesley Peterson

June 18, 1926 - June 13, 2024

Fort Worth, Texas - William Wesley Peterson, Jr. got promoted to heaven to live eternally with his Lord, Jesus Christ, on June 13, 2024. He was born to William & Kathleen Peterson on June 18, 1926, in Oklahoma City, OK. Services noon Friday June 21 at Greenwood Cemetery.

Bill graduated from Classen High School in OKC. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Naval Air Corp assigned to the Pacific Fleet aboard the U.S.S. Chara in San Francisco Bay. Upon being discharged in 1946, he used the GI Bill to finish his education at the University of Oklahoma in 1949. He later earned his MBA from TCU.

He met the love of his life, Elizabeth Mitchell Lyman, in the summer of 1947 in Minneapolis, at the headquarters of the insurance company where they both worked.

They had their wedding on Sept 4, 1948 and were married for 63 yrs.

In 1949 Bill went to work for J.C. Penney in Bristow, OK. He later transferred to the Tulsa store and finally to the Ft Worth store in 1953, where they spent the rest of their lives. He left Penney's and began a long career with General Dynamics, now Lockheed Martin, from which he retired in 1982. After retiring from GD, he and Liz started an income tax preparation business, retiring again in 2018.

Bill and Liz raised 4 sons, all living in Tarrant County. As a family, they vacationed together to 18 states, taking a total of 175 trips, 33 of which were cruises, to all 7 continents (passing by Antarctica) and all 5 oceans.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Liz, brothers Richard, Robert, and sister Anne Feige. He is survived by sons Steve and wife Donna, Doug and wife Julie, Jeff and wife Brenda, David and wife Jan. Additionally, he is survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Living his life to the fullest, Bill was predominantly known by many as the person that led them to Christ. He loved serving his Lord through various church involvements with UBC and Agape, spending family/personal times at CCC, and the community through several clubs. Most importantly, he and Liz built a legacy where all four sons and their families are Christians and will join them in heaven. As a result, his testimony is, "God is so good. And Jesus is Lord!"

Sincere condolences. Bill (& Liz) were great friends, golfing partners and church members for decades with my parents.
I hosted that "foursome" at Silverado in the late 70s - our visit to San Francisco including Beach Blanket Babylon Goes to the Stars "play" was the most fun ever. The foursome is in heaven now golfing the streets of gold.
