William Petitti Obituary

William I. "Bill" Petitti, 87, a lifelong Brockport, PA resident, died on Friday, February 21, 2025, at UPMC Altoona.

Born on November 22, 1937, in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Verda Dee Richards Petitti.

On October 1, 1966, he was married to Virginia Eukon Carlini and she preceded him in death on December 12, 2010.

Retired, Bill had been employed at Brockway Glass in furnace repair/maintenance from 1963-1999. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Bill was a member of Holy Cross Church in Brandy Camp until its closure and then St. Tobias Church in Brockway. He was a member of the Horton Sportsmen's Club, where he served as bar manager for many years, and he also was responsible for organizing the club's golf tournaments. Recently, he was presented a "Lifetime Service Award" plaque by the club, which he was very proud and appreciative to receive. He also was a member of the Brockway Sportsmen's Club, VFW Club in Crenshaw, Ridgway Elks Lodge, S.O.I. Club in Brockway and the National Lodge, Falls Creek Eagles Club, Pulaski Club in DuBois, the American Legion, also in DuBois, and the Olympic Club. Bill enjoyed hunting, golfing, cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals and especially the Dallas Cowboys. Bill was known for his generosity and loyalty to his friends and family. He enjoyed reminiscing about his many shenanigans with the love of his life, Virginia. At 87, he had quite the collection of life stories and relished in a listening ear. In fact, he had a coffee maker, but made his daily morning trips to Sheetz to grab a coffee and talk.

He is survived by a brother, Jon Petitti of Brockway; nieces Bridget Courtright of Charleston, SC; Michele Petitti of DuBois, PA; Colette Lyle, also of DuBois; nephews Scott Petitti, Michael Petitti, both of DuBois, and John Richard Petitti of Hazen, PA. He had a special place in his heart for his Godchildren, Billy Lyle and Bridget.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Petitti; and a niece, Darlene Petitti.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 26 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 27 at 11 a.m. at St. Tobias Church in Brockway, with Fr. John Detisch presiding. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery at Brandy Camp. Full military honors will be accorded by Parson-Marnati Post #95 of the American Legion Thursday morning at the church.

Bill and I were high scholl classmates and Air Force buddies. The "Red Head's" history is replete with interesting and exciting tales. ...later, Buddy.
