William O. Enos Pollard, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY.  Born on August 25, 1945, in Polls Creek in Leslie County, he lived a life full of dedication to his family, community, and personal pursuits.

After honorably serving in the United States Navy, Enos returned to his roots, rejoining the family business, Smilax Lumber, where he demonstrated his strong work ethic and commitment to small business ownership. Over the years, he successfully operated various enterprises, including a knife store and a mechanic shop specializing in small engine repairs. His entrepreneurial spirit reflected his deep ties to the community he loved.

Enos was not only passionate about his work but also cherished his time spent outdoors. An avid fisherman, he delighted in the serenity of nature and enjoyed exploring new places through travel. He was also a devoted fan of football, particularly the University of Kentucky Wildcats, always eagerly cheering for his team.

Family was at the heart of Enos’s life. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ollie Martin Pollard of Wooton, KY; his two sons, William E. Pollard (Erin) of Corbin, KY, and Austin Asher (Whitney) of Hyden, KY; and his four daughters, Teresa Hacker (John) of Corbin, KY, Charlene Russell of Dallas, TX, Patricia Hurley of Wooton, KY, and Kim Estep (Freelin) of Saul, KY. He was the proud grandfather of nine treasured grandchildren: Amanda, Jackie, Andrew, Darren, Samantha, Chloe, Kennedy, Channing, and Lincoln. His legacy continues with six cherished great-grandchildren: Alexis, Jeffery, Colton, Ronan, Oliver, and Xander. He is also survived by his brothers James D. Pollard of Wooton, KY, Robert C. "Bobby" Pollard (Lenora) of Hindman, KY, and one sister, Barbara A. Pennington (Doug) of Wooton, KY.  As well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends also survive.

Enos was preceded in death by his parents, William O. "Bill" Pollard and Viola Wells Pollard, his brothers Mike and Wayne Pollard, his grandchild Derreck Scott Hacker, special friend Huey Hurley, niece Tama Moore, and sister-in-law Carol Pollard.

Remembered fondly by all who knew him, Enos was a man of great character and integrity. He volunteered as a senior league softball coach, inspiring countless young players along the way, and in his younger days, he was known as an accomplished Go Cart racer. His zest for life and love for his pets, particularly his dogs Lucky, Slick, and Honey, were testaments to his vibrant spirit.

The funeral service to commemorate the life of Enos will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Wolfe and Sons Funeral Home in Hyden, KY with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis and Merle Caudill officiating.
