Wornie Gene Baker was a true man of God. He would tell you about a man named Jesus anywhere he went. Wornie was well known for his loving personality. He loved to joke and cut up and loved to make people smile. Wornie's love for everyone showed especially for his family and grandchildren, often saying " If I knew how much fun my grandchildren were I'd had them first". Wornie was the assist pastor of The Church of God in the Christ Jesus at Beatty Branch KY Where he was a faithful member . By occupation Wornie was a retired coal miner. He loved fishing, camping, farm life and spending time with family and friends. Wornie was born August 7,1950 to the late Jim and Offie Smith Baker on Cutshin KY he had 13 siblings. He married the love of his life Robin on November 24,1969 to whom he was married for 55 loving and devoted years they have 4 children: Larry (the late Deanna Baker), Thomas (Pamela) Baker, Jennifer (Benny) Bush, and Kristen (Bryan) Adams, 12 grandchildren: Josh (Samantha) Baker, Kellie Baker, Jesse (Ally) Baker, Jacob (Kristine) Baker, DaShana Baker (Alex), Ashley (Travis) Amburgey, Issac (Katelan) Stevens, Madison Bush, Paige Stevens, Jayden Stevens, Camille Cornmeal Adams, and Tyson Cooper, 9 great grandchildren: Owen, Tristan, Ashton, Brooklyn, Braiden, Adalyn, Raelynn, Layla, and Eden. Wornie also leaves behind these siblings to mourn his passing: Colston and Shelley Beshear, Bobby Baker, Joyce Faye Gross and Eugene, Goldie Shepherd and Alonzo, Nadine Baker, Norma and Vernon Gordon, and sister-in-law: Sidney Baker. To whom he leaves to cherish his memory along with brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. Wornie departed this life on May 30,2025 at the Pikeville Medical center. He was an inspiration to all and will be missed by many.
Funeral: Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Church of God in Christ Jesus Name, Beatty Branch, Wooton, KY

Pallbearers: Josh Baker, Jesse Baker, Jacob Baker, Issac Stevens, Danny Clark, Brandon Baker, & Michael Baker
Honorary Pallbearers: Jayden Stevens, Tristan Baker, Ashton Collett, & Braiden Collett
Visitation: Monday, June 2, 2025 at 6:00-10:00 pm at the Church of God in Christ Jesus Name, Beatty Branch, Wooton, KY
