Rex Smallwood, departed this life on January 23, 2026, at his residence. He was 68 years old. He was born on June 10, 1957, in Hyden, Kentucky.

By occupation Rex was a retired coal miner. In addition to his dedicated work life, Rex enjoyed gardening. He was affiliated with the Church of God.

Rex is survived by his two sons, Rex Smallwood, Jr. and Thomas Smallwood. He also leaves behind a brother, Pearl Smallwood, Jr., and 2 sisters, Evelene Smallwood Sizemore and Shirley Webb, who will remember him fondly. Two nephews, Jonathan Smallwood and Michael Smallwood, who will cherish the memories they shared with him.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl Smallwood, Sr. and Eva Sizemore Smallwood, a grandchild and three brothers, Ernie, Donnie, and Delbert.

Rex Smallwood will be remembered as a devoted family man, a diligent worker, and a gentle soul whose nurturing spirit touched the lives of those around him. He leaves behind a rich legacy of love, kindness, and resilience that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Funeral: Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY.

Minister: Rev. Logan Wayne Bowling

Visitation: Sat. Feb. 14th at 1:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home
