William "Pete" Prosser III

PROSSER, William A. "Pete" III, of Southport, N.C., died on May 19, 2010. He was born in Fall River, Mass., on April 4, 1937. Pete graduated from Bowdoin College and, after serving in the U.S. Army and working for Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania and General Telephone of Indiana, he earned a Master of Arts in Accounting from Ball State University. He became a Certified Public Accountant and worked for many years in private practice in Richmond, Ind. In 1985, Pete joined the faculty of St. Andres Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, N.C., where he became a tenured Associate Professor of Accounting and Business Administration and also served as Vice President of Finance. In 1995, Pete assumed the position of Vice President for Administration and Treasurer at Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Va. Pete retired to Southport, N.C. in 2004. He volunteered at Dosher Hospital and was an active member of the Oak Island Presbyterian Church. Pete was very grateful for 48 years of marriage to his wife, Sue, who passed away in January 2009, and for two fine daughters, Marcia and Nancy. A memorial service will be held for Pete at Oak Island Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, it was his wish that donations be made to the Oak Island Presbyterian Church, 1503 E.
