William Arvil "Pete" Read, Sr. 89 of Mulkeytown, IL passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026 in Mulkeytown.

He was born in Elva, IL on August 17, 1936 to the late Arvil and Marie (Serles) Read. He was a Union Carpenter by trade and was a member of the Carpenters Local #434 out of Chicago. He was also a veteran who served in the United States Army.

On August 13, 1959 he married the former June Johnston and she preceded him in death on April 26, 2003.

Pete enjoyed spending his time outdoors. He loved camping, hunting and fishing, and spending time with his kids and grand kids.

He is survived by his children, Bill (Pam) Read of Momence, IL, Debbie Read of Finley, CA, Mary Teresa Read of Mulkeytown, IL, Kathie Rumsey of Grayville, IL, Ron Read of Mulkeytown, IL, two nieces, Rita (Brian) Koontz, Helen (Jim) Delorme, fourteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald "Beanie" Read, Wayne Read, and James Read, a sister Nada Walters, and a great granddaughter, Weslie Grace Roule.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. Burial will be at the North Folk Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until service time of 1:00 PM.
