A much-loved husband, dad, uncle, and friend, Bill Rebernick, 79, of
Brookfield, Wisconsin, passed away on January 23, 2026.
Bill was known by so many names: William, Bill, Son, Dad, Uncle Bill, Mr. R., and Mr. Rebernick. He was born on November 9, 1946 in
Mosinee, Wisconsin, and grew up in that community, surrounded by family and lifelong friends. He was a graduate of UW- Madison. After graduating, he volunteered at Vista in West Virginia for two years.
After his volunteer term, Bill worked for the Milwaukee County Juvenile Detention Center for over 30 years, making long-standing friendships and connecting with and caring for troubled youth. He was a life-long fan of all Wisconsin sport teams and had an amazing memory for sports trivia. Bill passed down his love of sports to Matthew.
In 1986 he met his future wife, Debbie Schertz, and married her 11 months later in 1987. Having his son Matthew, was one of his greatest joys.
Bill was reunited in Heaven with his father, Tony Rebernick, mother, Rose Rebernick, brother, Peter Rebernick, and sister, Nancy Erdmann, and in- laws, Joe and Wini Schertz.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; son, Matthew (Helen); brothers-in-laws, Augie Erdman and Larry Schertz; sisters-in-laws, Virginia (Wayne) Strong, and Sheri Iamele; cousins, nieces and nephews; and many great friends.
Visitation will be held at St. John Vianney, 1755 N Calhoun Rd,
Brookfield, WI 53005, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., then followed by a Catholic Mass at 1 p.m. at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made towards creating a hummingbird garden in memory of Bill at the farm in Jersey County Illinois or to the Catholic Ecology Center in Neosho, Wisconsin.
Debbie and Matthew (Helen) would like to thank the Erdmann, Byle, Murphy, and Tracy Family's for their help and support as we all traveled Bill's year-long journey.
