William Remick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Johnson-Romero Family Funeral Home - La Junta on Dec. 30, 2024.
William Gene "Billy" Remick of La Junta, Colorado entered into rest December 22, 2024, in Pueblo, Colorado surrounded by his loving family.
Billy was born on October 5, 1974, in Alamosa, Colorado to William Remick and Sara Fruit. He was 50 years of age.
Growing up, he had many names and many titles but the most common included Billy, Coach, Mr. Remick, Podder, Daddy, Monkey Butt, Grandpa and Wild Bill.
In his early years Billy worked at Jackson and Remick Construction Company. After graduating from Alamosa High School, he went on to pursue a degree in Education from Adams State University and later received his Master's Degree in Educational Leadership through Grand Canyon University. Billy taught PreK-12 P.E. at Moffat Consolidated School District where he also began his coaching career. He was Athletic Director and received Athletic Director of the Year! After moving to La Junta, he taught K-2 P.E. at La Junta Primary School for many years before transferring to La Junta High School to be the Strength and Conditioning Instructor. While teaching he also had the privilege of coaching the La Junta Tiger Track Team, holding the position of Head Coach for many years. Billy then became the Assistant Principal at Tiger Trades Academy where he found his greatest success in the relationships and trust he gained from his staff and his students.
Billy enjoyed helping others. He was a volunteer firefighter, a Parks and Recreation coach, and volunteer coach for Colorado Speed Track Club. He worked part time for the City of La Junta Parks and Recreation Department and took pride in making sure the city parks were clean, safe, and ready for all to enjoy!
His greatest joy was his family! He was a family man. He loved spending time with his family grilling and chilling in the beautiful outdoors. He loved all genres of music and shared his love for music with his family through Karaoke concerts in the backyard¸ jam sessions in his music room and sharing random music facts. Billy was actively involved in his children's lives. He had the privilege of teaching and coaching all of them. He loved watching them succeed on and off the field, track, court, ring, or mat. He was proud of all their accomplishments.
Billy is survived by the love of his life and wife Diana Salazar Remick; his children Rayann and Braden Forney, Riley and Ryan Remick, Noah Barrett, Trisha and Adam Davenport, and Treyce Lovato; his grandchildren Everleigh, Easton, Adalynn, Braelyn, Nyel, Isabella, Emilyn, Riker and Justin; his mother's Sara Jones, Ernestine Coleman, Cathy Blotter, and Georgianna Salazar; his siblings Kristi Zimmerman, Michelle Jones, Mark Jones, Matthew and Miranda Blotter, Karen Duran, Jacklyn Coleman, Lesley and Ryan Gilbert, Derek Coleman, and Denise and Sam Salas; Goddaughters DeAnna, MeeLa, Xenovia, and Susie Adler; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.
Billy was greeted in Heaven by his father's William Remick, Jimmy Jones, and Greg Salazar, his siblings Mike Zimmerman, Kevin Nelan, Shawna Jones and Deb Salazar.
Billy will be remembered by his welcoming smile, words of wisdom, and his ability to make every person feel heard, welcomed and valued. He is a HERO and inspiration to many!
A Celebration of Billy's life will be held 11:00 A.M. January 17, 2025 at La Junta Tiger Stadium. If there is inclement weather services will be held indoors in the gymnasium.
