William Lee Rhonemus

William Lee Rhonemus, the greatest man who ever lived, left this physical world on December 16, 2025, at the age of 71, in Lancaster, Ohio, to be with his Lord and Savior. His faith never wavered, and all who knew him understood that Bill was a hero in countless lives. Proud, loyal, and deeply committed, he gave his whole heart to every group, friendship, and cause he cherished. Above all else, he loved his family fiercely and completely.

Born on August 27, 1954, in Springfield, Ohio, Bill was more than a skilled Firebrick Mason — he was a true artisan. Following graduation, he completed a rigorous four-year apprenticeship that launched a career spanning decades and miles, as he traveled across the country practicing his craft with passion, integrity, and pride. He approached his work not merely as a job, but as an art form, serving others with both exceptional skill and a genuine love for people.

Bill’s spirit was extraordinary. His presence lit up every room, and his kindness, humor, and unmistakable sporting spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. Known for his generosity and vibrant personality, Bill lived fully — with laughter, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to family and community.

He was honored as an Honorable Kentucky Colonel, a distinction reflecting his character, service, and leadership. Bill was a member of the Free Masons and he was also a past Sons of the American Legion (SAL) Commander of American Legion Post #11, where he founded the Post #11 Car Show. A devoted member of the Lancaster Corvette Club, Bill had a special affinity for his beloved Corvette and treasured the friendships formed through his shared passion.

Giving back was central to who Bill was. He volunteered faithfully with Charity Newsies where he made lifelong friends helping those in need. He was the founder of the “Bill Rhonemus Special Wish Foundation Poker Run,” raising funds to help individuals and families in need.

At the center of Bill’s universe were the people he called family. He is survived by his loving wife, Susie Rhonemus; his children, son William Lee (Sarah) Rhonemus II and daughter Wendy Leigh (Wes Sims) Pennington. Bill took immense pride in his grandchildren: Leo (Keeley) Demastry, Sydney (Jayden) Rutter, Layne Rhonemus, Leah Rhonemus, Kalley Rhonemus, and Max Sims. His heart overflowed with love for his great-grandchildren: Huntley, Paisley, and Oakley Rutter; Connor and Landon Godoenschwager; Lydia (Jake) Fisher; Levi Davis; and Caroline “CC” Fisher.

He is also survived by his siblings, Barry (Jennifer) Rhonemus and Becky (Bob) George; his brother-in-law Mike (Jennifer) Yokich; sister-in-law Della (Steve) Madden; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Shirley Truitt Rhonemus.

As our hearts ache with the loss of this remarkable man, we remember Bill with smiles, laughter, and cherished memories. His family invites all who knew him to share a story or moment that reflects the profound impact he had on their lives — a testament to a life truly well lived.
