William Edward Richardson

William E. Richardson was born on October 13, 1944, and went home to be with the Lord on January 29, 2026. He lived a life defined by service, hard work, and devotion to family.

William was a resident of Norfolk, Virginia, for most of his life, but he grew up in Hollister, North Carolina, where his roots were firmly established. He was also a proud member of the Haliwa-Saponi Tribe, a heritage that remained an important part of his identity throughout his life.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, exemplifying discipline, strength, and honor throughout his military service. Following his time in the military, William dedicated many years to the clothing business, working in Retail Sales, from which he later retired. His strong work ethic, Dapper Style, and commitment to service were evident throughout his career.

William was preceded in death by his father, William G. Richardson; his mother, Lucy Richardson; and his sisters, Dorothy Richardson Thompson and Jacqueline N. Collins.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Keith McMillon (Nicole McMillon); his grandson, Maddox McMillon; and his granddaughter, Mackenzie McMillon. He is also survived by his one and only spouse, Thelma Richardson; his sisters, Mary Richardson, Lucy Richardson, and Yvonne Faison; his brothers, Dennis Richardson and Jimmy Richardson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Affectionately known as "Kitty," "JR," and "Uncle Willie" to so many, William will be remembered for his service to his country, his dedication to family, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind- For the Good Times.
