William Robertson

William (Bill) Spencer Robertson, born on May 26, 1962, in Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully after a courageous year-long battle with pancreatic cancer on October 28, 2025, at Hospice of Dayton.

Bill was a quiet and private soul, known for his intelligence, integrity, and deep patriotism. He lived a simple, minimalist life-what you saw was truly what you got. Polite and humble, Bill treated everyone with courtesy and respect.

As a young man, Bill was deeply involved in the Boy Scouts of America. Through years of dedication and hard work, he proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout, a milestone he cherished throughout his life. Grateful for the mentorship he received, Bill later returned to Scouting as a leader, guiding new generations in the same values that had shaped him..

Bill was a remarkable archerist with a compound bow and arrow. One very foggy day when his dad and him were in a small jon boat on the Little Miami river, and they heard some geese ahead of them. His dad told him "if you're so good with a bow and arrow, go ahead and shoot one of the geese. and we'll take it home for dinner". Bill took careful aim, as he knew as soon as the arrow flew, it would startle the flock and they would take to flight. Bill released his arrow and the geese immediately went airborne. His dad began to tease him that perhaps he wasn't such a great shot. As the current carried them downstream, a short while later they came upon a dead goose laying on the river bank having been shot precisely through its very small head. Bill has always been an accomplished outdoorsman. He loved to fish, camp and enjoy the outdoors.

Bill’s proudest accomplishment was his service to his country as a United States Marine. He excelled in training and served honorably in military intelligence, including deployments in Lebanon and various U.S. locations. Bill lived by the Marine Corps motto-“Semper Fi”-and embodied the spirit of “Once a Marine, always a Marine.”

A diligent and dependable worker, Bill took great pride in his career at Lowe’s, where he served as Warehouse and Inventory Supply Manager. His professionalism, problem-solving skills, and calm demeanor earned him numerous awards and the respect of his colleagues.

Bill had a lifelong fascination with math and science. He often spent hours immersed in his Calculus and Physics books, joyfully solving problems and exploring new concepts. In his final year, he developed a deep interest in Scripture and began writing a guide to help others navigate the Bible-a project left unfinished but deeply meaningful to him.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Joyce (Willhoite) Robertson; his sister Jacqueline (Jackie) Robertson (in August 2024; his grandparents; and several beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by his devoted sister Diana (Lorin) Shirdon; nephews Michael and Daniel Hamm (Jackie’s sons); nephews and niece (Dianas children) Lorin James II (Emily) Shirdon, Sarah Shirdon, and Nicholas (Kylie) Shirdon; great-nephews Lorin J. Shirdon III (LJ) and Cameron; and his beloved aunt and uncle Billie and Fred Napier, who faithfully cared for and ministered to him throughout his illness. Bill also shared a close bond with his cousin Bobby (Liz) Reed, whose weekly visits and unwavering support brought him great comfort. Many other relatives and friends join in mourning his passing.

In accordance with his wishes, a graveside service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11am at Deerfield Cemetery on Shawhan Road in South Lebanon, Ohio. The service will be officiated by Larry Isaacs, with prayers led by Bill’s uncle and minister, Fred Napier.

Bill’s absence leaves a profound void in the lives of his family and friends-especially his only remaining family member, his baby sister, Diana. Yet, as we gather to celebrate his life, we take comfort in the promise of resurrection and reunion in Christ, the lasting memories he leaves behind, and the enduring strength of his spirit, which will forever live in our hearts.
