William "Bill" Ross

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William "Bill/Billy" Ross, age 70, on Feb. 21, 2026. He was born to Robert and Nivia Ross on December 15, 1955 in Cincinnati and moved to Indianapolis as a child. He attended Indianapolis Junior Academy and Southport High School.

He worked for Overnite/UPS Freight as a local semi driver for over 30 years, retiring in 2015. He was a member of Franklin First Assembly of God and was grateful to have Phillip Curtis as his pastor and friend.

He loved God, his family and the USA. He also enjoyed playing softball, football, basketball and most recently pickleball. During his 70 years Billy touched many lives in many ways, including spreading the Word of God.

His favorite donkey, Vanessa, also unexpectedly died on the same day. He must have wanted a ride to heaven!

He is survived by his wife, Rachel (Pitts), children, Bill Jr (Jill), Natasha (Nick), Laura, Natalie (Matt), Matt (Kelly), Isaac, Anderson, Nina and Mariah, his sisters, Evelyn Johnson and Marcy Janick. Sister-in-laws Becki Page (Brian) and Paula Sherman (Mike). Also 14 grandkids, 12 great grandkids, nieces and nephews, extended family and church family.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Jessen Funeral Home 729 N. US Highway 31, Whiteland, IN 46184 with Pastor Phillip Curtis presiding.
