William T. Roy (Capt., NPFD, Ret.), 81, of North Providence, passed peacefully on January 30, 2025. He was the husband of Maureen (Mello) Roy. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Alfred and Bertha (Cusson) Roy.
Besides his wife, William is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Salome and her husband, George, and Sherri Roy, four grandchildren, Tylar Rodrigues, Dylan Rodrigues and his fiancée Brianna Miller, Tayla Salome, and Ryan Salome, his sister, Dorothy Roy, and three granddogs, Max, Buddy, and Ella. He was the brother of the late Barbara Campano, Theresa DiStefano, Jeannine Roy, and Robert Roy.
William was a volunteer for the Centredale Fire Department before becoming a full-time member of the North Providence Fire Department, retiring as Captain, and was a member of its Local 2334. He also was a US Marine Corps veteran. Mostly, he was dedicated to his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 9:45 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Anthony Church. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 4-7 pm.
