William Russo Obituary

William Anthony Russo, 78, of Southampton, PA, formerly a longtime resident of Reading, PA, passed away December 24, 2021 at St Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA, after a short illness. Bill is survived by his three sons, Anthony (Carrie) of Southampton, PA, with whom he resided; John (Tara) of Sycamore, IL; and Michael (Brittany) of Kutztown, PA; and a cousin, Jeanne “Rosemary” Zittrauer of Savannah, GA. He will be missed by his grandchildren: Alexis, Andrew, Joseph, Anna, Ryan, Daniel, Joey, Isabella, Mackayla and Alexandra. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Marie, his brother John, and a son William Earl. Bill was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Boy Scouts of America, where he served the organization in many different roles, actively participating in both his sons’ and grandsons’ scouting activities. He dutifully served in the United States Army as well as the New Jersey National Guard. Professionally, he spent many years as a manufacturing leader in the automotive industry and afterwards as a small business owner. In his “retirement”, he was an employment services manager for Threshold Rehabilitation Services and served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for the CASA organization. He enjoyed sharing his problem-solving skills with his family, whether explaining advanced mathematical equations on his white board or completing multiple home improvement projects with ease. Bill was a past member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park, PA and was most recently a member of St. Bede the Venerable, Holland, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA. Viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. and Thursday morning from 9-10:30 a.m. at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Boy Scouts of America - Hawk Mountain Council, 5027 Pottsville Pike, Reading, PA 19605 and/or Washington Crossings Council 1 Scout Way, Doylestown, PA 18901.
